The best 4th of July Party I’ve ever hoasted

Peter and I had the great idea to have a 4th of July celebration on our last full day in Slovenia. Marko overheard our lame plans for hosting one at our Airbnb and asked if he could help. Oh boy, did he help.

Marko made us feel right at home with the lovely portrait of our great President.

Marko hosted, shopped, found American flags, cooked and told some off color classic Slovenian jokes. Peter and I were given gifts of local wine, Slovenian folk music CDs, and such warm friendship. There were at least 22 people there and we celebrated like it was 1999.

I announced that I still hand not gotten to the bottom of why the Slovenians were so nice and the answer was shouted from the crowd, “We sent all the bad Slovenians to America”. Problem solved.

Peter and I were actually overwhelmed with all the fun, friendship and pure joy of this party and the entire trip.
