DaMN race stages 4-6

Kevin did fine on stage 4 as he didn’t need no Goddamn light. Stressed the entire time with options going through his head: Who is going to ride Jess’s miles, she can’t ride a bike that doesn’t shift now that it’s hilly, Katie might get crabby if she has to do more, what/what/what. I finish stage 4 and there is Jess waiting to go with a big smile on her face. What happened?

I’m done

Jess called her dog spirit partner Devin (he supposedly knows shit about bikes) at 5 Am and he told her there were more batteries to replace. Katie and Jess drove to the Walmart in Granite Falls, bought the batteries, installed them, did a check ride in the WalMart parking lot and showed up in time for the tag off. What incredible team mates.

Jess, ready to roll

Jess did great on her leg. Matt’s Dad Denny dropped off Matt in Henderson. The plan was to give Matt the longest mileage and the hills because the lazy SOB slept all night. Matt took off like a bat out of hell.

Katie drying her smelly, sweaty clothes. I couldn’t breathe.
