Celebration time, come on

Ok a few stats from the trip:

Total miles 3734 47 days including 2 days of rest

Hit my day of 10/6 to finish which would have been JIm Rittenhouse’s (Sarah’s Dad) 90th birthday

83 miles per day average (goal was 85)

Travelled through 11 States and 1 Provence in Canada

Temperature Range 95* high and a 34* low

No rain until 1.5 hours on the very last day

No flat tires,,,let me repeat no flat tires

1 mechanical that was fixed in Whitefish Montana while we ate lunch

1 replacement of bottom bracket, new chain and new cassette while resting at the Cabin

5 Western Mountain passes, 3 Eastern Mountain passes

Expenses: Approximately 60 per day for food and 85 per day for hotel. It seemed like the normal rate for the hotels I stayed in was 80$ and some at 50$ and a few at 135$.

Lost: Driver’s license but it was returned in the mail from Hotel in Ludington, Michigan, tooth brush, bike light, 11 pounds and 2 belt loop holes.

Found: Sense of gratitude with a very slight reduction in sarcasm

Will send more reflections and awards latter. Awards like Dick of the Trip, best meal, town I might spend more time in, toughest day, worst roads etc.

  2. CONGRATULATIONS KEVIN AND FRIENDS (that includes Mike too)

What you have done is truly amazing. I have really enjoyed reading the updates and getting a picture of “off the highway” America. Although I’d never want to lose hearing your cynical humor, hearing about all the amazing people you’ve met has been inspiring. Thank you. And I wonder what happens to your butt when you ride a bike across the continent?
