Oh Canada

9/23 70 miles Port Huron MI to Ridgetown Ontario Canada. Hot and flat, same as it ever was…same as it ever was.

Took the ferry today from Marine City MI to Sombra Ontario across the St. Clair River.  It was such a low key ferry we rode right past customs and had to ask someone where it was. No waiting. The ferry arrived 2 minutes after we got there 2 cars and 2 bikes loaded and we were in Canada in less than 10 minutes.  Canada customs took 2 minutes and we were off.

It was more of a struggle to find a place to sleep as we near the North Shore of Lake Erie. The American Adventure Cyclist map warned us that it was more small B and B’s and no hotels. I found a great one in Ridgetown that it seems we have to ourselves.  I asked the owner since this is still farm country was it Trump country? She said no, and that most Canadians just think the USA was duped.

When we entered Canada we biked along the St. Claire river for about 10 miles on a path. It was heaven for a short while.  I always get suspicious when I see a lot of American flags. Just my stupid bias.  We saw a ton of Canadian flags today but of course my suspicions were not engaged.  I know I’m biased but I would argue otherwise with someone who accused me of it.
