9/21 77 miles from Clare MI to Frankenmuth MI. Mostly flat with some opposing wind (where the hell is all this SE wind coming from?) But the real defining issue of the day was it showed 98* on Mike’s cycle computer.
The fake Bavarian town of Frankenmuth MI (Courage of the Franconians) draws 3 million visitors a year to see Bronners Christmas Wonderland the World’s largest Christmas store. Wow, I may never leave.
Mike choose to go to the Old Christmas Station Restaurant. We are so desperate to not have burgers, pizza etc that we went to a highly rated Christmas themed restaurant that had German opera on all the time. The place was loaded with Christmas themed crap.

The flying Angle above our table has the same look that Mike did when he tasted his ravioli. Who knew that Italian food wouldn’t be so good at a fake Bavarian restaurant. The strudel at the end all most made up for it.
When you are on a bike and you get hungry, most of the time you have little choice. If a place has quality and originality you just about flip out. Burgers, steaks, fries, Blts, etc gets old. They all remain in the top 10 foods in the USA. Today in Bay City MI we were blessed with an indoor open market that had Sushi, middle eastern food and kale mango smoothies. It was such a welcome change. Those of us who live in bigger urban areas don’t really know how lucky we are.

The beer in these smaller towns almost makes up for the food.
This is the funniest blog post yet!
I’m glad you were able to find a town so in line with your interests!

I’m just a little sad that your route doesn’t take you through Bad Axe.
At least there’s sushi.

The smaller town restaurants must have craft beer…… such as Bud Light
