9/13 85 miles Carlton MN to Barnes WI
Made it to the Cabin. I don’t even know how many miles I’ve ridden because I just haven’t added it up. Today was going to be an easy 70 but in the first 2 hours we had 3 road construction detours. The last one caused an additional 20 miles of riding.
We were dealing with a bridge over the St. Louis River that was rail on top and road on the bottom. We got there at 8:20 and the bridge was closed from 8 to 5 while they worked. I begged the damn rail road man to let us pass while welding ashes fell around us. All he had to do was wave his hand and stop the work for 20 seconds and let us pass. He kept yelling at me that he was going to fine me 1500$. I kept pushing but finally gave up. I should have asked the SOB, if he took Visa. So a new category is created: DOTD (dick of the day). It goes to Rail Road Man.
Enough negative crap. I made it to the Cabin in Wisconsin from Seattle. I could not have done it without Peter and John. John and I had some very tough days. 2 miles from the end I told John it was time to tear up. All he said was Uh huh. Thanks John for everything.
We crossed into Wisconsin on some backwoods gravel road that turned into pavement when we got into Wisconsin
Thank you Governor Walker.
Sarah Shriver and Jeanine Farrell made us a fantastic dinner tonight. There was vegetables.
Also Don and Delores Schneck drove up to the Cabin to toast me.
Looking forward to the next leg of the trip to Maine with my tough as 72 year old brother Mike. It should be more Epic Shit.
You are my hero! Even if you quit now.
I just wish you wouldn’t have whined so much in your blogs…
