9/5 72 miles from Wibaux Mt to Dickenson ND
In Montana they like to tell jokes about North Dakotans. There was this North Dakota guy racing his bike across the USA. He was doing really good until he was in the mountains and saw the “Please remove chains” sign.
Jesus Christ, Montana is a big state. We are still in Mountain time but will break that barrier tomorrow with a 100 miler.

I have to admit that I felt some accomplishment today 1450 miles in and crossing into North Dakota. Standing underneath the North Dakota sign with all the interesting stickers gave me that feeling that John and I were some of the cool people that biked into ND. I really like the FBI sign: Fry Bread Inspector. Peter and I can relate to that after the Fry Bread Hamburger we had on the Blackfeet reservation in Browning MT.
We stopped at Medora ND today for our mid-morning breakfast. Medora is at the entrance to Teddy Roosevelt National Park and most of the town is owned by a foundation. Very cool place that I would like to come back to for hiking. At the Cowboy Cafe in Medora we met our Minnesotans of the day Bob and Marge from Roseau MN. Bob was a smart ass and asked me if it was uphill both ways.
We are staying at the Oasis motel which is right on the Northern Tier bike route we are following. This hotel is very unique looking and another of these space age looking Googie architecture (google it) that some how has survived the times. This is probably at least the 5th one like that I have stayed in. In a car you usually stay at the known chain near the interstate, but biking makes it possible to find these weird cool places.

John walked a mile to the local grocery store and took a few art shots of Dickinson, not easy to do.

Wow and CONGRATS on 1450+ miles ! I still think you should alter your path and head down south! You haven’t seen crazy til you hit small towns in the south! Maybe next august? Cheers to YOU! Keep calm and peddle on!

I am still traumatized by the “The Buffalo Classic on Fry Bread” from the Nation’s Burger Station. Fried 1/3 lbs Buffalo meat on fried bread with a side of fried potatoes. No amount of biking can erase that meal. Congrats on your progress.

Who cares what you guys are doing…I just got my 520 back from being professionally tuned and when I picked it up Gregg says “who’s been working on this, hopefully not you. $200 poorer but it’s ready to ride to Maine but can’t say as much for it’s rider.
