88 miles favorable windsEarly start after a copious breakfast at the Notty Pine in Republic. The final Cascade climb up the Sherman Pass came early in the day. The descent to Lake Roosevelt was long and gentle no need to brake.  The ride changed with the wind. Kettle Falls to Colville was a challenge headwinds and climbs. That portion was highlighted by Cairen a young Irishman heading westbound on Adventure Cycle route. He started in NYC en route to San Francisco. He pondered Kevin’s bike and when he learned it was an Appleman, he exclaimed that he heard about the Appleman donut bike at the N.H.A.B. show.  Lunch at a olde-style drive in (or ride in) at Ronnie-D’s in Colville. Then it got real. 26 miles after lunch. Seemed to be a simple. Not so, tired leg, soar butt and more climbs made this a long day.  When we finally rolled into the Beaver Lodge. We were a bit dazed. A quick jump in the lake, a few beers and conversation has revived the troops.  Road observations- Several deer- half dozen dead skunks- Three “Don’t Tread on Me” flags- A gaggle of Wild Turkeys- Two cougars (bi-peds)- and this (Trump sign photo)pb
