8/31 Chester Mt to Havre Mt 61 miles 94 F
Shorter day and it worked out well as it is hot as hell again😡. Averaged 18 mph with nice wind at our back.
Everyday there is tension in the air about what weird ass thing we are going to write about. Today we were given the gift in the first 5 miles with one of the strangest road side historic signs I have every seen. You must read the entire sign:

Stopped at a great coffee/bakery place where just out of the oven cinnamon rolls as big as your head were offered. Perfect fuel for the road. We also had the pleasure to meet the Hingham ladies Thursday coffee group. So many stories from them that we were delayed. I left my rear flashing light on and one women commented I was advertising like a red-light district.
We got to our destination at Havre checked into the Siesta Motel got cleaned up then walked around the corner at Char’s for lunch.
There was a group of old guys sitting around one table and I asked them if they ran the town. One guy replied no but they could run us out of town.
When we were almost done with lunch Jerry came over and gave us a brief but comprehensive history of Havre. He retired after 28 years with the Great Northern railroad. He now runs a soup kitchen, volunteers at the historic society and does historic Missouri River trips. I left with a bicentennial silver dollar and 3 DVDs of river trips.

Another mid-century modern motel.
Cool! Indoor parking! I presume that means you didn’t have to argue with anybody about bringing your bikes into the room.
