Sandpoint, ID to Libby, MT. 92.5 miles. 8/26

Start with the end. The descent of the Kootenai River Valley some 80 miles into the day could have been brutal. The day had been long, plenty of climbs and descents. Now it was getting hot. 18 miles to our destination we turned east on Hwy 2.
Suddenly we felt a cool breeze which accompanied us into Libby. At first it was disorientating. Like I had a “cold sweat” for heat exhaustion. But it was truly another sign the “Gods” are pleased with our bike adventure.
Back to the beginning. For natural beauty today gets my vote for top marks. The from the Pack River Delta to Clark Fork the views were magnificent. We then crossed into Montana along the Cabinet Gorge. Turned North and rode along Bull Run Lake and Creek, before turning East to Libby. Mountains, meadows, rivers and lakes… simply beautiful.
People and things of note along the way.
– Turtle Xing
– Eagles, Osprey and Herons
– Mountain Dave ranting against Government and the Internet, let us look thru his binoculars to inspect the damage of a train wreck.
– Yummy lunch stop in Noxon – spell it front-back-upside down… its all the same.
We met Radio Flash – Ready Eddy (see photo) a fifth generation local who spun a fantastic tale of a Hollywood production on his land. He stated “Collecting recycled stuff for 40 years, haven’t recycled yet.” This is a man that both of Kevin’s brothers would like.
– Pat Hagan and Cindy the proprietors of Little Joe’s bar. Pat a former marine wore a All Lives Matter – except ISIS T-shirt. Kevin misses his dog Tilly so much that he sat with the 3 dogs on the couch as they were watching a TV that didn’t work.
Farewell today
– Good-bye and big thanks to Sarah Shriver (a.k.a. Sag Team 9) for her good cheer and stellar support
– Au revoir to Idaho hardly got a chance to know ya
– Bye to the Pacific Time Zone

Radio Flash !!!??? Are you sure that is not Tim Coats??? He has been missing awhile and that would be a great place to be lost from society so that he could just take all his time to study the commodity markets and maybe FINALLY get them right !!
Kevin…you and Peter look like you are having a fab time and not only seeing some real Mtn beauty but also meeting up with a bunch of interesting characters in very unusual places…..Keep peddling and just be glad you do not have Hurricane Harvey weather to contend with or worry about.
